SUN KISSED

Sunflower symbolism - Sunflowers symbolize admiration, loyalty and longevity. Much of the meaning of sunflowers stems from its namesake, the sun itself.

To Native American groups, sunflowers represented harvest, bounty, and provision because they provided seeds, pigment, and more.

The Incas used sunflowers to symbolize the Sun God, and brought them to temples for worship. The priestesses also wore sunflowers on their garments and as crowns.

The sunflower is the Greek symbol of Clytie, a water nymph, who turns into a sunflower after grieving over the loss of her love, Apollo. Clytie, now in the form of a sunflower, is always facing the sun, looking for Apollo's chariot to return in the hope she is reunited with her love.

In Chinese symbolism, the sunflower represents long life, good luck and is considered very auspicious. It's yellow color signifies vitality and intelligence as well as happiness.

Symmetry is another manifestation of the balance of Yin and Yang, of the unimpeded flow of ch'i. Ch’I is a river pristine energy, a power that not only flows through us, but unites our tangible self, our body, thoughts, emotions and sensations to our intangible, our spirit and consciousness. Ch’I is the crux of our pure self.
